Bury and Backfill
Once the electronics have been configured and it is confirmed that the station is operating properly, the sensor vault and PVC piping must be buried. Use plenty of dirt on the sensor vault -- not only does this protect the vault from mishap, but it also serves as a thermal barrier preventing wide temperature swings for the sensor. Covering the PVC pipes help protect them from the sun and from damage due to people (and animals, if the fence fails) stepping on them.
When everything is buried, the only remaining task is to close and cover the electronics enclosure...
